Age UK provides services and support for the over-60’s both locally and nationally to enable older people to make the most of later life..

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with some of the extra costs caused by long-term ill-health or a disability if you’re aged 16 to 64. Call 0800 917 2222 for help and advice on how to claim.

This is the representative body for organisations that provide personal care – including nursing care – to people in their own homes. The UKHCA produces information on good practice and acts as a focal point for innovation and quality within the care industry.

Employment and Support Allowance

If you’re ill or disabled, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) offers you financial support if you’re unable to work and personalised help so that you can work if you’re able to. Call 0800 055 6688 for help and advice

Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit for people aged over 65 who need help with personal care including getting in and out of bed, washing, eating, medication or mobility, or because they can become confused and need someone to watch over them. Direct Payments

As an alternative to giving you community care services, councils are obliged to offer you Direct Payments (if you meet certain conditions) to pay for your own private homecare arrangements and related activities such as shopping services. Phone your local Social Services Care Services Department.

Carer’s Allowance is a taxable benefit for people such as friends and family members, who look after someone who gets Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance.
